Like most healthcare facilities, our customer dealt with thousands of faxes daily, which had to be manually sorted and typed into their EMR system, leading to delays in information availability, increased workload, and risks of sensitive patient information ending up in the wrong hands through mishandled paperwork or mistyped fax numbers. 

Telesystem Secure Fax allowed the hospital staff to receive faxes directly into their EMR system for a streamlined workflow; allowing users to recieve documents without leaving the patent’s chart within the EMR platform. 

How Does it Work?

Sending a fax is as simple as opening a new email, selecting the address, typing a cover note, attaching files, and hitting send. Digital confirmation arrives within minutes, and no printing, scanning, or dialing is needed. This process can be done from a computer, tablet, or smartphone.

When receiving a fax, the service automatically and immediately encrypts it using 256-bit encryption and stores it securely in your online portal while notifying you (via email) that the fax is available. Included in this email notification is a URL. When you click on the link, a Transport Layer Security (TLS) connection is made and you will be prompted for your credentials (login ID and PIN) to view the fax.

No sensitive information is ever directly transmitted, as the fax remains on our server for viewing. Additionally, the fax can remain encrypted and securely stored as long as you need it, reducing strain on your local email servers and storage devices.
