About the Customer

Our customer is a national retailer that opened its first store in the 1950s. Since then, they’ve grown to operate in 32 states with over 300 locations and continue to expand year over year. In addition to permanent brick and mortar stores, they also operate pop-up stores for 5-6 months out of the year to account for holiday traffic and increased sales during that time.

The Company's Challenges

  • The customer was in need of a network redesign to support both their permanent retail locations as well as temporary seasonal pop-up stores across the country.

  • A number of the pop up stores are located in rural areas cost prohibitive to installing true dedicated circuits.

  • Due to the number of locations, they were utilizing several different cable providers, thus receiving several different bills and relying on several different support teams which was cumbersome to manage.

Telesystem’s Customized Solution

The customer had a number of unique needs and challenges at their 300+ locations which our team was able to uncover through solution discovery calls with their technical team.

We worked together to solidify a network design to solve all of their current issues while leaving flexibility to adjust, grow, and expand their future technology needs.

With specific needs at each location, we designed a number of custom solutions to fit the technolgy requirements of each space. As permanent locations, their headquarters and non-seasonal stores were outfitted with dual circuits of Telesystem DIA with built-in DDoS protection and Managed Broadband. Since a number of sites were using various broadband providers, our managed broadband solution allows us to monitor, bill and manage the broadband connection at each individual site - meaning the customer receives a single bill and has access to Telesystem’s 24/7 US-based support team. If an issue were to arrise, our team can proactively engage the provider and the company’s IT staff.

Additionally, the permanent locations were equipped with our Managed WiFi solution, as well as close to 1,300 hosted stations backed by 5G LTE failover to ensure seamless connectivity. Their headquarters also utilize Telesystem CCaaS (Contact Center as as Service) in their call center which supports all of their retail locations.

Without the need for permanent connectivity, the company’s seasonal pop-up locations are able to utilize a slimmed down, cost effective solution to meet their operational needs. Since many of the locations are in remote areas, the best option was to install wireless LTE devices to power their hosted stations, POS terminals and Internet connectivity needs.

Telesystem’s dedicated project management and account management teams continue to haveongoing monthly cadence calls, quarterly business reviews and technology needs discovery calls to ensure we’re keeping up with their growth and right-sizing their evolving technology needs. In turn they have been a loyal Telesystem customer for over 7 years.
